Spotlight: Progressive handicap hurdler last season; won 2m6f maiden at Punchestown and 2m7f handicap at Naas before sixth in the 24-runner Pertemps Final; got away with sloppy jumping, including a blunder two out, when making all to win a 2m2f novice event at Galway last month on fourth chase start; open to improvement
Spotlight: Third to Better Days Ahead in 2024 Martin Pipe; 2m4f chase winner at Gowran in January; made a bad mistake and unseated rider four out in the Brown Advisory; making progress when brought down four out in the Mildmay at Aintree; fine effort, despite an indifferent round of jumping, when third in the Irish Grand National.
Spotlight: Second in the 2023 Thyestes and fourth in the Kim Muir the same year; lost his way for Gordon Elliott; change of scene did the trick last season; backed up a 66-1 course handicap hurdle success by landing the Ulster National; finished a creditable fourth in the Irish Grand National; should be better for his run in an Irish-dominated contest at Cheltenham last month.
Spotlight: Got off the mark over fences at the third attempt off 130 at Naas in January (2m4f, soft); failed to make an impact in the Jack Richards at Cheltenham; faded from two out in Punchestown festival handicap over a near-4m trip; this trip could be close to his optimum; Naas form often translates accurately to this similarly tough left-handed circuit.
Spotlight: Three-time hurdle winner who is 0-9 over fences; pleasing return from a break when second at Gowran (2m4f, yielding); was staying on at the finish when again runner-up over an extended 2m6f at Galway three weeks ago; almost on correct handicap mark, not a forlorn hope.
Spotlight: 2m4f maiden hurdle winner got off the mark over fences when easily winning a beginners' chase at Galway just over a year ago; well held in Grade 2 novice at Punchestown last November; absent until winning off a 2m6f handicap hurdle off a 15lb lower mark at Galway last month; could go well for trainer who won this with a young horse in 2018
Spotlight: Has shown a liking for a thorough test of stamina with a second in the National Trial at Punchestown (3m3f, soft) in February and a third to Haiti Couleurs in the National Hunt Chase; never a threat when a remote tenth behind the same horse in the Irish Grand National; dropped away tamely in the straight on seasonal debut in the Munster National.
Spotlight: Dual Grade 3-winning novice hurdler; 1-6 in chases last season; decent form in Grade 1/2 company; jumping left a lot to be desired when a remote seventh in the Ultima at Cheltenham; appeared not to stay in the Irish Grand National; jockey won this on a 20-1 shot for the stable two years ago; runs well when fresh.
Spotlight: Maiden; 0-5 in chases; stayed well when second in the 3m4f Dublin National at Leopardstown in March; disappointed in a 3m Fairyhouse handicap in April; soundly beaten in a beginners' chase at the same venue 12 days ago; that run should have advanced his fitness; trainer appears to have stronger candidates.
Spotlight: Two wins over hurdles; inconsistent over fences; good effort when second in a Kilbeggan beginners' event (2m4f, yielding) in September; poor at Gowran on next start; looked a possible future handicap winner when second in an amateur riders' event over 3m1f at Cheltenham; 3lb out of the handicap, good 7lb claimer.
Spotlight: Won the 2024 Grand National Trial at Haydock; fine effort in third behind Stuzzikini in this event 12 months ago; lost form later in the campaign; tailed off sixth of nine finishers in the Munster National four weeks ago.
Spotlight: Won Punchestown's Grand National Trial in February (3m3f, soft) off 120; remote fifth of 16 in the Midlands National at Uttoxeter; brought down at the second when 16-1 chance for the Punchestown festival race in which Answer To Kayf was sixth; 10-1, pulled up in the Cork National a fortnight ago, "never travelled" according to Jack Kennedy; cheekpieces now.
Spotlight: Smart hurdler in his early days; all three chase wins recorded in small-field events between April and June this year; failed to make the grade in Grade 3 events before a livelier display at Cheltenham last month; trainer appears to have stronger contenders.
Spotlight: Seven-time winner; 3-11 in chases; showed he stays well with third in 3m3f Grand National Trial at Punchestown in February; won three-runner 3m2f event at Down Royal in March; struggled after early mistake in the Irish Grand National; Jack Kennedy's mount.
Spotlight: Very experienced handicap chaser who has been generally reliable over the past 12 months; improved his strike rate (now 5-40 over fences) by winning two handicaps at Kilbeggan during the summer; best at around 2m4f.
Spotlight: Three-time chase winner; won a 3m rated chase at Fairyhouse in February 2024 for Gavin Cromwell; ran only twice over fences last season; up with the pace throughout when an excellent second behind Nick Rockett in the Thyestes; prominent to two out in the 3m3f Grand National Trial at Punchestown in February; has joined John McConnell.
Spotlight: Wide-margin winner of Punchestown's 3m3f Grand National Trial on heavy ground the season before last; remote fourth in the Kim Muir the following month; let down by his jumping in big staying handicaps last season; completed only once from four attempts, tailed off in the Thyestes.
Spotlight: Sole success from 18 starts was gained in a Listed handicap chase at this venue in March (2m4f, heavy); again ran well when third in a novice handicap over a slightly shorter trip than this here in February (Verdant Place 5l away in fourth); out of form in two runs since return from a summer break; 7lb out of the handicap.
Spotlight: Bumper/maiden hurdle winner for Gordon Elliott; 0-6 chasing, fair second to the odds-on Spanish Harlem in a five-runner Punchestown novice in June; beaten favourite in a small-field contest at Kilbeggan the following month; others are more appealing

Bearing in mind the similarity between this stiff left-handed track and Naas, ANSWER TO KAYF (nap) is put forward on the strength of a convincing Naas win last winter. Top-weight Quai De Bourbon is the sole Mullins runner and commands respect on his Irish Grand National third. Noel Meade has an interesting contender is Sportinthepark. Meanwhile, Gordon Elliott, who has a superb record in the race, and Gavin Cromwell have numbers on their side. Will The Wise and Aspurofthemoment are two with a big chance for Cromwell. Elliott's best could be last year's third Search For Glory. [Alan Sweetman] Show less
